When the owners of Kingfisher Cottage were searching for that ‘just right’ location and came across this property, they knew immediately it would be the perfect spot for a vacation at any time of year. With a peaceful outlook on the Deer River; boating access into Belmont Lake; and plenty of privacy, this newly renovated cottage could be just right for you too.
The meandering Deer River winds its way into Belmont Lake and is home to a variety of wildlife including blue heron, beaver, osprey, bullfrogs and the occasional kingfisher. The cottage sits on nearly an acre of lawned gardens overlooking a bend in the river and benefits from a wonderfully private location. Guests can enjoy the gorgeous views from one of two decks, the swing set or hot tub, or from the dock with fishing rod in hand. The more active can play badminton or volleyball; take a walk on quiet local roads; paddle out in the canoe or rowboat; take a swim, or even try out the stand-up paddleboard. In the evening, sit around the campfire under a canopy of stars and roast a marshmallow or two.
The main cottage is newly-renovated and decorated and has been furnished with guest comfort in mind. Each of the two bedrooms has a new pillow-top mattress on the bed, and the master also has a day bed as well as an ensuite bathroom. In the living room, huge windows overlook the river and a sliding door makes access to the deck easy. The log-effect propane stove is perfect for cooler evenings and creates additional ambiance for winter breaks. The large kitchen has everything you need for cooking a quick breakfast to a complete Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner and the large dining table can seat the whole family easily. A sun room offers comfortable seating for a morning coffee or a quiet read.
The Bunkie/family room is separate from the cottage and is a great spot for teens to have their own space since it has a pool/ping pong table, satellite TV and a double bed with a single bunk over. The bunkie is not heated so is available only from late spring to early fall
Entertainment is taken care of with a flat-screen TV, iPod speaker dock and plenty of books, board games and DVDs. Hi-speed internet access will keep you connected to the outside world.
The local area is great to explore and the Welcome Book at the cottage describes places to go, things to do, where to buy the best maple syrup, fresh eggs and butter tarts, and what to do on a rainy day. Whether you are looking for a spot to take a picnic, play on a sandy beach, or beer-taste at a local micro-brewery, there’s something for you. And if in need of a suggestion, the owners will be delighted to help.
The owners of Kingfisher have taken all they have learnt from renting their other property – Osprey Cottage – to create immaculate, feature-packed accommodation in a beautiful environment. They hope you will love it as much as they do.
